Because saying "I want to make money, but I also want to not have to make any investment" is asinine. It's also the only Paypal plugin that exists, so he doesn't have any other option, except to commission it I guess, but that would cost more. So, to answer your question, "Why should he pay for it?" Because if he wants this feature for MyBB, he has to.

You're always saying, "WELL ON OTHER SOFTWARE IT'S FREE." Yes well, this isn't other software. If it bothers you that much, put the hours in to learn PHP and develop the plugin yourself, and then release it for free.

You look specifically for topics about paid plugins just to mouth off, don't you?

Frankly, the $5 fee at least stops a bunch of people sticking Paypal on their site for useless content (such as charging monthly to access a single forum, for example).

No.. I only look AND reply when such crap is posted by you and others in these threads. As said before you all dont start with people over not wanting to pay and i wont start. How hard is that for you to understand? Thus if someone says they dont wanna pay then LEAVE it at that and nothing else will be said. Need i pull up all the threads you come jumping into everytime someone says they dont wanna pay? Search is a great feature.

It is honestly not up for any of us to decide which is or isnt crap to be charging for. In either case it depends on what the site is about so i guess i somewhat agree and dissagree. Have you seen Offtopic.COM? That is one of those where i think it is stupid to charge to visit/post in a forum BUT i am sure others may see it differently. Then you have sites such as game ( arcade ) sites that charges a fee to view some sections of the forum but they do have some downloads as well.

My point STILL stands about the other software. Why the heck should anyone wana pay for something that can be had elsewhere for free? You never have and STILL dont get my point do you? Basically you are saying that you would rather MYBB lose potential users that dont wanna pay. I have to wonder how much that affects donations to MYBB as seing how this isnt a problem elsewhere? None of you all ever think about that do you? Too heck with everyone else including MYBB right? But whatever as i know you all dont care in the least bit and will come back with some other lame reasoning as to how it somehow benifits MYBB. None of you all care about this project. And please dont try and give lame reasons as to why you do because it is very insulting.

As for what people invest.. How about the hosting or even server, domain and all that stuff? Surely not everyone on MYBB is getting it all free. If so i wanna know how and where because i want in. And i really dont know of many free hosters where you can actually make a buck because of the limited space/usage. So again tell us how these people have not invested anything in their sites?

As said the last time me and you mixed it up over this i will be learning this stuff and if the time comes where i am sure i can do it you better believe i will and till then i am gonna be looking elsewhere to bring some coders here that know how to and will do it. And that you had better believe i am and have been working on and already getting results. Trust me you all will see it real soon to. So hopefully those charging know how to do skins or something of the sort if they wanna continue to make extra cash here. I think if you look around you will see that a number of the paid only plugins are now being done by others for free especially recently.

Thus i am done with this debate TILL the next time you or someone else here wants to jump on someone for not wanting to pay.

Back on topic.. Again hopefully someone with the know how can do this up for free. I believe it will be greatly aprreciated by many. And here is a deal.. Anyone willing to do this and the other paid plugins for free that doesnt have one i will offer them space on my server for them to do a MYBB Plugins/mods/theme site. You have to get your own domain though.

You are *not* actually comparing identical products, since you're stuck with the other free forum when using those free mods.

Yes i am comparing and it is a fair one to make. Again it goes back to my point about it making MYBB less attractive to alot of potential users. Point is a few of these plugins such as this hotly debated one is ones alot of people want and thus makes a difference and has a impact on the appeal of MYBB despite what it comes with. Yes i'll still use MYBB as i can live without this and a number of the others but thats me but again many others who need such most likely dont feel the same and so they will go to places like SMF where this can be had for free despite MYBB being better. Thus why i strongly believe MYBB has such a shortage of professional sites using it. Sorry but it is time to stop thinking about ourselves and maybe think about how we can really help MYBB grow and sorry but this is not the way to do it.

As said above my offer still stands for anyone willing to do it.
