RE: Cannot create a new thread/post
ok don't have a .htaccess (maybe it gets created/deleted auto via SEO settings?)
I have a htaccess.txt (in main forum dir)

I also don't have mod_security turned on.
I could try and put back on SEO settings but don't really want 2 if its 'hard' 2 turn off (is it more than just a setting u did last time) and see if .htaccess gets created
(if not then maybe SEO fails without the .htacess file? - just a thought)

RE: Cannot create a new thread/post
Can you tell me what SEO is, and how to "turn it off", as I have the same problem with not seeing the "New Topic" buttons.

SEO = Search Engine Optimisation. To turn off MyBB's SEO - ACP > Configuration > Server and Optimization Options > Enable search engine friendly URLs? > Disabled.

Thanks, Matt, but it seems that's not the problem.

I have successfully installed MyBB, and it works on every level except one: as administrator, I cannot start any new topics or new threads because these buttons do not show. When I log in as a test under another persona, the buttons appear, but not in my administrator capacity.

I don't know if it's related, but I can't start a new topic in your own board, Matt, as the button does not show.

RE: Cannot create a new thread/post
Make sure in your group settings, you can post new threads, and in ACP > Forums & Posts > **choose forum** > Options > Permissions > Administrator > Edit Permissions/Set Permissions > that you can start new threads here. If you have to change any permissions here, make sure you tell it to 'use the permissions below'.

RE: Cannot create a new thread/post
All these permissions were set correctly, Matt, so I unchecked them and re-checked them, but the problem persists.
(I first mentioned SEO because someone said above "turning off seo did the trick.")
