SSL just means that there is less chance that it will be hacked, it doesn't mean that the people who you gave your credit card details to won't do bad things.

If you transact through a reputable company such as PayPal, the remote party will not have access to your credit card information.

RE: Kinda sucks....
Why is using your credit card on the internet so risky/bad? Just look at what TJMaxx had to go through with their credit card "scam" which had nothing to do with the internet, in so much as folks were buying goods in stores, and their credit cards were being tampered after the fact!

Have our wonderfull media to thank for this bad attitude with doing business online. I'll admit i am very leery when it comes to doing business/giving out personal info on here as well. Why for my own online business i as well accept checks/money orders and or basically provide a way for people to send funds off the net. Smile

Paypal rocks, you don't need a cc, just a bank account with a bit of cash, if you wanna buy something. Its godly for ebay. Wink
Maybe, sometime here soon I'll get a couple of labrocca's memberships and stick em in costumes and make em dance... Err not what I meant to say. Put em in a contest. Lol.

Doesn't mean anything if their or your system gets compromised...

Any system can get compromised, whether it's an internet transaction or not!

To be honest, all I'm rather quite experienced with computers, I dislike online transactions, and are generally very skeptical of them. I have actually always been like that, which is why I started, and tried to stay with free hosting as long as I could. Of course, I had to expand out of this however, and I was still very cautious.
If it wasn't for the growth of my website, I would have never have dealt with any sort of online business. I am still very skeptical to spending money online.

(I'll also point out I'm very lax in terms of computer security, but I generally don't like taking chances with money)

I'll also point out that parents' probably trust the internet less than younger people do...

Money isn't the only cost in this world.

It's a matter of responsibility. If your system is compromised, it's your issue. If some bank's internal system is compromised, the bank has to deal with it.
