Currently you can't merge threads from the forumdisplay page. You have to be in a thread..then you have to use inline moderation and know the TID of the thread you want to merge.
Wouldn't it also be easier to have a merge threads options on forumdisplay?
VERY good suggestion. It would be nice to have it as an inline thread tool, so you can check the boxes next to 2 (or 3, or, 4 or whatever) threads and merge them.
would it make more sense to have an option for a thread moderation where you can "Add to merge list" and then you could open the merge list, mark which one is the 'master' and the other(s) would merge into that one before being deleted...
This would allow merging more than 2 threads together....could work for forums as well

It's actually possible. Add a new custom thread moderation tool in the Admin CP. Select "Merge Threads" as the only option to perform.
The reason why it's not standard is because we haven't thought of a less server-intensive way of merging threads.

Ahh....I will test this out.
Just tested that out and it works perfectly! Server intense or not, this should be standard, but I'm thankful there's a way to do it anyway
Right Galen, we don't really have to do a lot of merging after all. So it's alright..
I think we should have this as well, additional to a "remove redirects" option for the forumview.
I do like the idea. It's much simpler.
